FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION CLOTHING
DONATION
The
Staff and Board recognize the most important factors in sustaining Wardrobe
for Opportunity is their commitment to excellence and their ability as
an organization to raise funds and clothing donations. As a community-based
nonprofit organization we are dependent on monetary and clothing contributions
to continue our service to low-income women and men. Approximately
20% of our budget is spent on overhead or administrative expenses. We
are committed to delivering a valuable, esteem-building service to our
clients to help them get and stay employed.
Please
take the time to help out another individual in your community who is in need
by sending in a monetary donation to Wardrobe for Opportunity.
We also welcome donations of quality women's and men's business clothing
(please see details for drop off locations below). Thank you for your support!

Donation Requirements
Wardrobe for Opportunity relies on clothing donations to ensure we have
the inventory to appropriately dress our clients for work. Our clients often leave our shop to go directly
to an interview. For this reason, please follow our clothing donation guidelines:
|
|
|
All
clothing must be clean, dry-cleaned, washed or ironed and on a hanger.
This ensures that it will arrive at our shop without wrinkles. (Some
of our clients do not have irons, and they can not afford dry-cleaning
at this time)
|
|
Clothing
must be in good condition. This means no stains, moth holes, buttons
missing, rips or tears, or broken zippers.
|
|
Clothing
must be in current style and suitable for the workplace. We always
need basic colors such as black, brown, navy. We accept jackets,
suits, skirts, blouses, sweaters, dresses, pants, shoes, jewelry,
new stockings and handbags. We have a special need for coats and
umbrellas.
|
|
We
do not accept lingerie or casual clothing. Business casual clothing
is acceptable. We do not distribute eveningwear, but we can sell
eveningwear to consignment stores and use the profit for our program.

Suit
Drives
We appreciate the many suit drives that are conducted on our behalf. If
you're interested in conducting a suit drive in 2005, please contact Dorothy
Amiri, Program Manager, for approval prior to setting up your drive.
We request at least one month notice to ensure the most effective coordination
of our efforts.
Through
your generosity and support, Wardrobe for Opportunity continues to empower
more women and men to change their lives and become economically self-reliant.
On behalf of the board, staff, volunteers, and clients, we thank you for your
support!
