How do I become a client?
All of Wardrobe for Opportunity's
clients are referred to us by qualified social service
agencies or training programs. Our clients must be receiving
government assistance or be federally mandated low-income
earners. Please call our office for information about
income eligibility or referral procedures. If you are
interested in a similar service in your community, please
look at our Related Links page for a Wardrobe-like organization
near you.
What does the wardrobe consist of?
On the first visit a client
receives a capsule wardrobe consisting of one to two
complete outfits. For women, this is generally suit,
or a jacket and pants or a skirt, and blouses, pants,
or skirts that create a mix and match outfit. For men,
this is generally a suit or a suit jacket and slacks,
two shirts, a tie, and a belt. Both men and women recieve
shoes, and accessories, as our stock permits.
This capsule wardrobe is based on a basic color that
flatters the client. Our clothes are mainly for wear
in a professional office environment and we are not
able to accommodate requests for uniforms.
Does my agency qualify as a referral partner?
Referral agencies must be
working with disadvantaged jobseekers and be providing
training services that will lead them towards employment.
Potential referral agencies should call to schedule
an interview with the program manager to receive our
referral guidelines.
I have an appointment. Is there anything
I should know?
Keep your scheduled appointment
and arrive on time. We will not be able to reschedule
appointments unless we have 24-hour notification.
Do not bring children so that we can concentrate on
selecting your special outfits.
Wear a T-shirt or blouse, which makes trying on clothes
easier.
Missed appointments will not be rescheduled.
We usually have free haircut gift certificates and makeup
available so let your volunteer dresser know if you
are interested.
Contact us at (510) 463-4100 for any questions regarding
your appointment.
Do I have to pay for the clothing?
There is no charge to the
client for clothing. Wardrobe for Opportunity is a registered
nonprofit corporation.
