GOING BACK TO SCHOOL

If you are a college student, then you are probably contemplating heading back to school. From meeting old friends to starting new classes, college is truly a life experience that prepares you for the next steps in your career. But now that school is starting soon, it may be best to start thinking about your future prospects for a job and see what you can do to properly take advantage of the resources all around you.

The best way to secure a promising position is to network efficiently. College is the time to meet new people, whether it's the person who sits near you in class or just a random stranger at the coffee shop. Using this time before school starts to practice networking is a good idea because by making connections, you open yourself to new opportunities. These opportunities can be limitless,  whether it be an internship, valuable volunteer work, or even a promising job in the profession you like.

This leads us into another thing you can do to get ahead: gain experience. Although hiring managers look at academic scores, they also pay a great deal of attention to experience, especially experience related to your profession. This is why it's important to use all the resources available so you can attain experience. This includes connection you have, asking your professors for mentoring, and taking advantage of the career center at your college to help with job listings and mock interviews.

Another resource you can utilize is one of Wardrobe For Opportunity's multiple workshops. These workshops can help student's in various aspects including their professional image, interview skills, and even managing money (for student loans, credits, budgets, etc).

See our Programs page for a full list of workshops that we offer that can help you land a great job. These are just a few of the steps you can take to really get ahead of your peers. With these valuable resources, you can be on your way to landing yourself a great job in no time.
